I purchased an 80-gallon electric water heater in 2009 with a 'Lifetime' warranty. When the unit of measurement failed in 2021, I was told that Whirlpool no longer manufactures an lxxx-gallon tank. I was provided an R/A# and was told that Lowe's should honor it with a 'similar-kind' replacement unit. Lowe's originally suggested I club an AO Smith Hybrid online, (at my expense), return my onetime tank, and they would reimburse my account. When I went back to confirm this offer, it was adjusted to a $200 credit (suggesting that was the value at the fourth dimension of buy). After, Lowe'due south again adjusted their offer to comprehend $650 toward a replacement 50-gallon tank with a half dozen-yr warranty and 30-gallons less capacity. Other manufactures exercise produce lxxx-gallon tanks and Lowe's does have AO Smith tanks bachelor online just. I would accept to pay the difference across the $650 offering.
I purchased the original lxxx-gallon tank because I need the capacity and I causeless the 'Lifetime' warranty would allow for an even trade if/when something went incorrect. The proper solution would be for Whirlpool/Lowe'due south to offer a replacement value for whatsoever comparable 80-gallon tank regardless of the manufacturer. Currently, similar tanks average $1300-1500. (Westinghouse w/ Lifetime warranty at Home Depot). Lowe's should also be able to lodge the tank for in-store delivery every bit opposed to having me order online at my ain expense. Meanwhile, the current tank is leaking and will shortly be out of service...

Our Whirlpool water heater needs a burner associates replaced. Second fourth dimension within the warranty period of six years. Parts have to be ordered, so you lot will exist without hot h2o for several days to a week. The worst role is reaching them. Between my wife and I, we have about 4 hours invested in sitting on hold waiting for someone in three dissimilar calls. They never reply the phone. They give an option to retrieve. They never telephone call back. I'k so frustrated. No Whirlpool products ever once more. I'm sitting at my desk, hoping someone volition eventually answer the Whirlpool line. I don't even have the part ordered however after ii days of no hot h2o. Who knows how many more hours I will need to sit here and mind to this music on hold. It is incredible in 2021 a company can remain open while offer this kind of customer feel.

Owner of 20 apartments, 16 of them take electric h2o heaters and iv have natural gas units. Have replaced over the years all 20 water heaters. 19 of them were replaced with Whirlpool units bought at our local Lowe's. It is my opinion that they are very unreliable. The tanks rust out in NO time. The electric units terminal but a footling better than the gas units just however terrible. Of the 4 gas units then far I have had to replace 3 of them and the longest 1 lasted 6 years and 7 months!! One of them was just over half-dozen years and the other was 9 days away from warranty expiring. They replaced that i. If yous have no other choice brand sure to buy extended warranty if available. They just don't last!!

I purchased a 12 yr warranty, high finish Whirlpool WATER HEATER (OR So I Thought AT THE Fourth dimension) through Lowe's in 2014. Model ND50T122-403. Half dozen years and multiple service calls afterward it is cleaved again, this fourth dimension for the terminal time. I am ripping this garbage out. And then livid with this company that could requite a rip about their customers. Three years in to my "12 twelvemonth warranty" it started giving me problems. Horrible HORRIBLE client service. They will insult your intelligence. Whirlpool will not laurels the warranty or stand backside their product. They just take your money and basically give a shrug of the shoulders or worse blame y'all for THEIR TERRIBLE product declining. It may be unscrupulous and unethical but I guess saves them a pile of money which is what they seem to only exist out.
The Service Tech that came for the quaternary time to repair it says they encounter this all the time in Whirlpool water heaters. Information technology's a Design Flaw they say. I don't know about all that. I but know when I take been swindled. The electronics are garbage. The pilot light when it goes out is not easily reset equally others have mentioned on this site. Will stay lit for while so shuts downward. Whirlpool says, despite reams of evidence to the contrary information technology "must be a safety issue in the install," which they accept admittedly zero evidence of therefore, they are not honoring the warranty. They are Blaming the installers, according to our service techs who tried to order the function that'south supposed to be under warranty.
The original installers, past the way were from Lowe's, the outfit that sold me this hot mess. Some other Form activity lawsuit seems ripe. Or perhaps the consumer protection division from each state'due south Attorneys General would be interested in protecting their citizens from practices like this. Lowe'due south is complicit in allowing it, failing to protect their customers and not calling Whirlpool out for it. I can't think of a more deserving target of consumer protection than Whirlpool. A truly horrible, expensive feel. Run into the Whirlpool logo and RUN - - DO Non WALK -- THE OTHER Way!

Having multiple apartments I have some experience with h2o heaters, with that being said, old schoolhouse h2o heaters would last thirty years with basically no maintenance. Since those old, transmission no BS flashing low-cal codes were replaced with Whirlpool brand, I see constant issues. Honeywell valve/motherboards was the worst matter that could have been put on any equipment. More or less they all failed inside few months by warranty expiration engagement. Replacement part is cost almost half of what brand new production costs. When called customer service, they are aware of said problem but will non assistance, or recall above product. There are plenty of videos and forums of people lament most the same issue. Existence poorly treated past customer service, I know that I volition no longer exist spending my coin on whirlpool brand. three years off of the h2o heater is a joke.

Bought a propane hot water heater and 2 years after buying it airplane pilot wouldn't light. Had to buy a conversion kit because they didn't make the role anymore. Now had to purchase a gas valve and it didn't work so went to Locke's and bought a new water heater and now they won't refund my coin for the function $300.00 with shipping. They said they could only supplant it. Well I don't demand it at present considering I bought a better product. Whirlpool is junk and you have to buy the parts from them and RIP yous off. Way to take care of your customers Whirlpool. Buy something else with your money.

This product is unsafe and should be recalled. It has aluminium wires that connect the unit to the 220 Vol Power source. Aluminium and copper wire don't mix. I took a shower and was getting gear up to leave for the day when I went into my garage to smell burning plastic and wires. I traced it to the hot water heater and discovered the wires in the Energy Smart were melted and burned. I checked with Ii Electricians who told me that the wires in the unit tin non handle the high heat and melt. If y'all accept one get rid of it. Had I left for the day I would accept lost my home, cars and pets. If anyone would similar to encounter this unit of measurement I still have information technology and photos.

Replaced the "brain" twice. No hot h2o for two-four days each fourth dimension, waiting for part to make it. Now I take to replace the nylon bleed valve considering information technology won't shut off. Gonna apply brass replacement. Fortunately I have information technology drain to a sump pump so firm isn't flooding. Don't buy Whirlpool water heater from Lowe's unless you enjoy this kind of thing. Consolation: the folks at the help line always answer the telephone and are knowledgeable. And they've heard these same complaints over and over. Ane guy fifty-fifty said to buy AO Smith as they are made in Tennessee instead of People's republic of china.

I had a Whirlpool Natural Gas H2o Heater professionally installed on 2-27-2107. This unit came with a Honeywell controller and thermopile assembly. Today is 05-eighteen-2019 and the unit is not inoperative. The pilot is lit but the burner won't light. Here are the issues that I have come across then far: When I go to the Whirlpool site there is no direct link to Whirlpool water heaters, just kitchen appliances and washer/dryers. When I click on parts and accessories link information technology gives links to washers, dryers or pedestals. Again... No information about water heaters. I gyre downward to the bottom of this page and I see a link to "All Replacement Parts" When I click that information technology takes me to another site managed by "RepairClinic". When I enter the model number for the h2o heater information technology says Not Found. I entered the part number for the thermopile on the tag on the orange wire #321165-002 and 100078039 and again it returns every bit Role Not Found.
It'south obvious that Whirlpool is putting little try into supporting their water heaters or their customers. I chosen their support line and they were able to club the thermopile assembly for $55 plus $27.95 in shipping to get it here by Tuesday. Today is Saturday. And then that means almost 4 days without hot water. And since this water heater was a warranty replacement for a previous one that went bad they will not cover the cost of replacement parts for the thermopile. Lesson learned: No more Whirlpool purchases for any of their appliances.

This has been our 2d Whirlpool Hot Water Tank in our home in the past fourteen years. The first was installed past the architect, when information technology went out we purchased a larger chapters one from Lowe's. It was professionally installed and now, after the extended warranty coverage period is expired, it's expired as well. I would think you should be able to become more than than 7 years out of not 1, only two Whirlpool hot water tanks. No wonder they are no longer manufacturing hot water tanks - they sucked at it. Besides, if you do have i, yous have to go parts from Whirlpool and pay $30 shipping. No cheers, for the toll of parts to replace everything you're better off getting a whole new unit.
